Rishabh -> Lehman -> Prashant

Cut to the year 2006. Rishabh was preparing for the CAT-2006 aggressively. He had enrolled for coaching classes where he went to imbibe 'gyan' in weekends. During weekdays, he would attend B.Tech. classes and surreptitiously solve AIMCAT questions hiding them in the textbook. After reaching his hostel room, he would waste no time in quickly resuming his English improvement strategy implementation. He would read novels, ET etc. till he finish his quota for the day.

Prashant, Rishabh's neighbour, had a habit of observing his friends. Both of them were offered a decent job, going by the standards of the institute. The fact that 85 students were offered the same job didn't make him feel special. Prashant had started to appear lethargic and listless. In search of a new goal, he thought it would be good idea to try for better prospects. He went to Rishabh and asked him about the future after CAT.

Rishabh was upbeat about it and estimated a 10-15 lakhs job if he gets into any of the top 20 B-schools. It was a realistic assumption, citing the past placement records. What extraordinary has Prashant achieved if he joins the company doling out a meagre 2.5 lakhs annually. He deserves more, he has the ability. He thinks so, and evidently starts preparing.

Two years pass and Prashant is busy pruning verbal ability. Its September 16, 2008. Prashant wakes up early morning and collects newspaper to peruse the headlines. He reads about a legend, a behemoth, going bankrupt. He rubs his eyes and drinks a glass of water. Given that he had opted to live in a single accomodation and was vacillating between job and study, this was a miserable news. Suddenly, his efforts to crack CAT look futile. Days passed and i-banks were falling like a pack of cards.

Prashant called Rishabh, who was in the second year of PGDM(Finance) at (guess!). Rishabh confirmed that situation wasn't well for Finance guys. But, there was a hope....hope of a change....the change we can believe in (borrowed from B.O.). But the change was not imminent too soon. Rishabh struggled to get himself any job offer. Prashant was audacious enough to leave the work and join the same college; same stream where his idol, Rishabh studied.
